As Head of Customer Success, James is responsible for ensuring clients and partners can make the best use of Fathom’s data. This involves interfacing with a lot of people, externally to manage onboarding and customer queries, and internally to organize data for delivery and manage access to the API.
This collaboration is one of the aspects James particularly enjoys about his role, along with Fathom’s ethos of transparency and the sense that the company is having a positive impact on the world around us.
James has a Masters degree in Mathematics from the University of Southampton. Before joining Fathom in 2022, he spent over a decade working at the insurance company Zurich in a myriad of roles, including as a catastrophe modeler and in the catastrophe underwriting team. His technical background and insurance industry know-how provide James with a great understanding of the data and use cases of Fathom’s products.
Fathom is a global specialist in hydrology, flood modelling and flood risk intelligence. Having formed in 2013, the organisation now works with a number of strategic partners to deliver a range of products, across many verticals, including (re)insurance, engineering, ESG, climate change, international development and disaster response.
Developed out of the University of Bristol Hydrology Group, Fathom is research-led with science and academia remaining an essential part of its DNA. Regularly contributing peer-reviewed papers to the best journals in the world, the team have long been established as leaders within the academic community.
